The Master of Fine Arts is a professional graduate degree in the practice of art – unique in that it is the artist's terminal academic degree. The MFA in the Art and Art History Department at UTA offers students a broad range of study and exploration within the areas of Intermedia, Cinematic Arts, Glass, and Design. As a requirement for completion of the degree, candidates are required to present a culminating exhibition demonstrating excellence in their chosen fields.The Spring 2024 exhibition features four artists – Yanina Blanco (design); Christina Childress (intermedia); Nijal Munankarmi (design); and Michael Scogin (intermedia) – showcasing representative works from their time as graduate student artists at UTA.Darryl Lauster, MFA Director states, “This exhibition represents a moment that encapsulates three years of each student’s rigorous conceptual and technical investigation. It reveals the scope and direction of artistic practice in the early 21st century while also testifying to the independent and unique vision of each artist.”

Join the UTA campus in watching and celebrating the total eclipse on Monday, April 8. Leading up to the main event, there will be several events and activities planned.

The Pilates Method is a full-body conditioning program that develops deep abdominal and back strength, together with increased flexibility and ease of movement.  This class is aimed at “core stability,” designed to work on lengthening muscles to help tone and strengthen muscles, using breathing to enhance relaxation. 

The College of Engineering will host a Total Solar Eclipse Watch Party at the Engineering Quad. While you are watching the Solar Eclipse with fellow engineering friends and faculty, enjoy some fun events and pizza.Visit the Computer Science and Engineering table to get free solar eclipse glasses! Snacks and exclusive watch party pins will be available, while supplies last and weather permitting. If it rains, the event will be moved to the NH atrium.

Experience the Solar Eclipse with CAPPA on Monday, April 8 at 12 p.m. The University will experience a once-in-a-lifetime event. Come to CAPPA Courtyard for an awe-inspiring view! By noon, CAPPA students, faculty, and staff will receive free glasses in the courtyard (while supplies last). Enjoy popsicles, snacks, beverages, and more! Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and friends and family to enjoy this unforgettable experience.
