- Sep 246:00 PMGuest Flute Artist Masterclass: Tomaz TavaresParis based Brazilian-American flutist Thomaz Tavares has garnered acclaim for his “innate sense of musical aesthetics across all styles” according to Vociharmonie, and for his “polished, lyrical, and virtuosic” playing, by the Virginia Gazette. He regularly performs, records, and tours with the Orchestre de Chambre Nouvelle Europe under the direction of Nicolas Krauze and is a co-founder of Ensemble IMAGO, in artistic residence at the Fondation des Etats Unis. He has performed in historic venues such as Salle Cortot, Petit Palais, Chateau de Fontainebleau, and he has recently gone on tour with the Vivaldi concertos. For the 2024-25 season, he will be serving as guest adjunct professor at Texas A&M University as well as Cal State University Fullerton.

- Sep 25All day"Infamous Texas Killers" Mini-ExhibitUTA Special Collections will have a mini-exhibit on display showcasing items in the collection relating to infamous homicides and serial killers in Texas history. Special Collections invites the UTA community to learn more and view the mini-exhibit during the Central Library's open hours, September 3-September 28. The exhibit is just outside the doors of Special Collections in the Atrium, on the Central Library's sixth floor.Visitors should be aware that this exhibit discusses violent crimes and acts of bodily harm. It is presented with factual information to contextualize part of Texas' history. This exhibit includes content that may have outdated language or may be graphic or disturbing in nature. - Sep 2510:00 AMThe Gallery at UTA ExhibitionPaper Trails is a three-person exhibition featuring artists Cecelia Feld (Dallas), Jessica Drenk (Rush, NY) and Rachel Livedalen (Fort Worth). The exhibition curated by Gallery Director Dr. AugustJordan Davis and Visual Resources Curator Lilia Kudelia focuses on how each artist engages with the materiality of paper and books in their artworks, often to unexpected ends. Appropriation, layering, collage, and repurposing of texts, pages, and paper feature across the selected collages, prints, paintings, digital media, and installations forming Paper Trails.Cecelia Feld creates brightly colored abstract collages and monotype prints using a variety of materials including photographs, magazines, and her own handmade Japanese marbled papers. Jessica Drenk recycles books, carboard and junk mail to create 3-D sculptures and sculptural wall pieces that appear made of natural materials such as wood and stone. Rachel Livedalen produces paintings, prints, and artist books that juxtapose art historical references with "girl power" iconography to comment on representations of femininity.
