UT Arlington Baseball Drop Final Regular Season Game Of The Year

ARLINGTON, TEXAS – The UT Arlington Maverick baseball team fell to the Tarleton Texans 19-9 in the final regular season game of the season this Saturday at Clay Gould Ballpark.
 
GAME FLOW
The Mavs were able to strike first in the bottom of the 1st inning after Ryan Black drove in two runs on an RBI single to right field that scored Tate Bethel and Tyson Pointer. With a 2-0 lead heading into the 2nd inning, the Texans were able to chip away with a run to cut the Mavericks lead to 2-1.
 
Tarleton opened up the top of the 3rd inning by loading the bases with two walks and a single. The Texans were able to capitalize on a strong offensive inning and plated 4 runs in the frame to jump out to a 5-2 lead by the end of the top of the 3rd. 
 
The Mavs answered right back in the bottom of the 3rd and scored 4 runs to retake the lead. To start the scoring, Tate Bethel and Ryan Ellis were hit by a pitch, and Tyson Pointer battled for a walk to load the bases. Ryan Black cleared the bases with an RBI single to right field and plated his 5th RBI of the day. Jackson Hill gave the Mavs its 4th run of the game on a SAC FLY which gave the Mavericks a 6-5 lead by the end of the inning.
 
In the top of the 5th, the Texans took control of the game, scoring 2 runs off of two hits to take the lead 7-6. The Mavs took back the lead in the bottom of the 3rd after Ryan Ellis drove in a run with an RBI single, and Tyson Pointer blasted a two-run homerun to take a 9-7 advantage.
 
The Texans took the lead in the top of the 7th after scoring 4 runs to jump out to a 11-9 lead over the Mavs, and increased its lead to 15-9 after another 4 run inning in the top of the 8th inning.
 
Tarleton continued to pour it on the Mavs and plated its third-straight 4-run inning to jump out to a 19-9 lead, which is where the game stayed until the final out.
 
PITCHING PROFILE
It was a bullpen outing in the final game of the season with Caden Noah getting the start. The Longview, Texas native pitched for the 1st inning while snagging a strikeout in the 3 batters he faced.
 
Aaron Calhoun pitched the most innings for the Mavericks, racking up 3.0 innings in his relief appearance. The Pearland, Texas native picked up a strikeout and allowed just one walk his relief appearance. 
 
 
ON DECK
The Mavs head to Mesa, Arizona for the WAC Baseball Tournament, scheduled from Tuesday, May 21 and will go on until Saturday, May 25.
