Mavs Eliminated From WAC Tournament

MESA, ARIZONA – The #6 UT Arlington Maverick baseball team lost to the #7 UT Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros in an 8-5 ballgame and was eliminated from the WAC Tournament.
 
GAME FLOW
In the top of the first inning, the Vaqueros opened up with a 2-run homerun to take an early 2-0 lead. UT Rio Grande Valley extended its lead to 3-0 after plating a run in the top of the 4th inning.
 
The Mavs got its first hit of the day in the bottom of the 4th inning after Tate Bethel roped a single through the infield. However, the Vaqueros increased its lead to 5-0 in the top of the 5th inning after a solo homerun and an error from the Mavs caused two runs to plate. 
 
In the bottom of the 5th, Caylon Dygert and Jackson Hill roped back-to-back singles and were brought home by a 3-run homerun from Garrison Berkley to cut the Mavs deficit to 5-3.
 
Parker Airhart was able to cut the Vaqueros lead down to 1 after he plated Garrison Berkley with an RBI double to right-center field. The Vaqueros scored 3 runs in the top of the 8th to jump out to a 8-4 lead. Ryan Black hit a solo homerun in the bottom of the 9th to cut the Mavs deficit to three, however, the Mavs were unable to put anything together, resulting in an 8-5 loss.
 
 
PITCHING PROFILE
 
Caden Noah, a native of Longview, Texas, was tabbed as the starter for Tuesday's matchup, and he performed well in his 3.2 inning pitched. Noah was able to strikeout six batters and allowed just two walks in his start.
 
Nicholas Robb, the first reliever out of the Mavericks bullpen, and pitched 3.1 innings. The Freshman from Keller, Texas picked up three strikeouts and allowed just 1 walk in his relief appearance.
