Cross Country Heads South To College Station For The Texas A&M Invitational

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The UT Arlington cross country teams return to action on Friday, September 12, at the Texas A&M Invitational at the Dale Watts Cross Country Course in College Station, Texas.
 
The men kick things off with the 8k race beginning at 8 a.m., followed by the women running the 5k course at 8:45 a.m.
 
Along with host Texas A&M, the Mavericks will be joined by Baylor, Houston, Louisiana, North Texas, Oklahoma (women only), Sam Houston, SMU (women only), St. Edward's, Texas A&M – Commerce, Tarleton State, TCU, Tulane, UT Tyler and Blinn College.
 
This is the second straight season that the Mavs will run at the Texas A&M Invitational.
 
Last week at the Gerald Richey UTA Invitational, the men finished second overall while the women finished third. The women had two top three finishers while the men had three finishes in the top 10.
 
Matro Jepkemboi finished second overall with a time of 17:33.90 while Winnie Kipsang finished right behind her in third with a new personal record of 17:45.30. Lauren Walls-Portillo was the only other Mav to finish in the top 20 for the women, coming in at 18th with a time of 18:53.60.
 
For the men, Jackson Cichon led the charge, finishing fourth with a time of 15:09.40. Josue Granados finished fifth overall with a time of 15:09.70. Patrick Estes rounded out the top 10 finishers, placing seventh with a time of 15:10.70.
