Cross Country Ready For Premier Cowboy Jamboree

ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington cross country teams return to action on Saturday, September 28, at the Cowboy Jamboree from The Greiner Family Oklahoma State Cross Country Course in Stillwater.
 
The gun will sound for the women's 6k race at 8:15 a.m. central time, followed by the men's 8k race at approximately 8:45 a.m.
 
This is one of the largest non-championship races held in the country with hundreds of teams and thousands of participants every year. The Cowboy Jamboree is one of the nation's oldest races, with the very first running dating back to 1937. This is the second time in the last five years (2021) the Mavericks are running in this premier race, and the third time since 2013.
 
This race will feature some of the top cross country programs across the nation, including host Oklahoma State who is the unanimous No. 1 in the USTFCCCA National Coaches' Poll on the men's side while the women come in at No. 16.
 
After an off week last week, the Mavs look to get back into action this weekend in Stillwater. In the third meet of the season at the Texas A&M Invitational back on September 3, where the men finished seventh overall as a team while the women finished eighth. The meet was highlighted by a top 10 finish for Matro Jepkemboi, who came in 10th overall with a season's best time of 17:26.8. Winnie Kipsang placed in the top 20, coming in at 17th overall with a new 5k personal best time of 17:51.8. On the men's side, Patrick Estes posted a top 25 finish, coming in 24th overall with a time of 24:21.0.
 
Last Monday, September 16, USTFCCCA released their latest regional rankings and both teams remained ranked. The men checked in at No. 11 while the women come in at No. 12.
