Roberto Gallegos Named UTA Baseball Assistant Coach

ARLINGTON, TEXAS – UT Arlington head baseball coach Mike Trapasso has added Roberto Gallegos to his staff as an assistant coach.

Gallegos, who most recently served as an assistant coach at Navarro College in Corsicana, Texas, brings a recruiting boost to the Mavericks following stops within Major League Baseball and the JUCO/Division 1 level.

At Navarro College, Gallegos primarily served as the hitting coach and served as the team's recruiting coordinator since August of 2021. At the junior college level, Gallegos helped guide over 35 players to a Division 1 scholarship. Gallegos also helped lead the Bulldogs to winning back-to-back conference championships in 2023 and 2024.

Gallegos, an El Paso, Texas native, also served as an associate scout for the Baltimore Orioles organization (2017-21). He was responsible for the highly-touted North Texas region and aided the Orioles organization in the evaluation of prospects and assigning draft value while also determining the prospect's potential for success.

Prior to his time within the Orioles organization, Gallegos was an assistant coach at Oklahoma for the 2017 season where Gallegos' duties included coaching first base and instructing the OU infielders.

A native of El Paso, Texas, Gallegos played at Navarro from 2005-06. He finished his collegiate career at Northwestern State University at Louisiana where he played for the Demons from 2007-08 and earned a degree in criminal justice.
