Mavs Ink NJCAA First-Team All-American Brody Robinson
ARLINGTON, Texas – Brody Robinson, a 5-10 guard who spent the past season at Garden City Community College and was an NJCAA First-Team All-American, will join Head Coach KT Turner and the UT Arlington men's basketball program for the 2024-25 season.
During his lone season for the Broncbusters, Robinson was named an the Jayhawk Conference newcomer of the year after averaging 20.4 points per game in 32 games played while shooting .438 from the field and .373 from deep as well as .855 from the free throw line. His 20.4 points per game led the team which included a 44-point outburst against Pratt on January 31, which fell one point shy of tying the program record set back in 1972. He scored 20 or more points 18 times. His 207 free throws made set a single season program record which also led the nation while his .855 free throw percentage led the conference. He was second in the conference in scoring.
Robinson averaged 8.4 assists per game which led the nation. On 13 separate occasions, Robinson dished out double-digit assists which included a school-record 17 against Bethany back on December 10. His 268 total assists set the single season school record.
Before his time at Garden City, Robinson spent one season at UT Chattanooga where he appeared in 33 games, making two starts. His first collegiate start came against Milwaukee on December 6, 2022. For the season, Robinson averaged 10.9 minutes per game while averaging 4.1 points, 1.3 assists and 1.0 rebounds per game while shooting .434 from the field and .387 from three. He registered 10 or more points on five separate occasions.
A native of Houston, Texas, Robinson attended Houston Christian where he averaged over 18 points, 6 assists, 4 rebounds and 3 steals per contest during his senior season. Robinson was named the Texas Sports Nation Boy's Athlete of the Week after posting 23 points and 8 assists in the first game before an 18-point performance in a win over the No. 5 ranked team in the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches rankings. He competed for the Houston Defenders in the UAA circuit, which is not only one of the top programs in Houston but the nation.
Robinson joins Diante Smith, Jaden Wells, Jarren Cook, Raysean Seamster and Cameron Jackson as signees for the upcoming 2024-25 season.
