Jeremy Pope Participated In The Jay Bilas Coaches Leadership Program

DAVIDSON, NC – UT Arlington's men's basketball assistant coach Jeremy Pope was one of 12 coaches invited to participate in the Jay Bilas Coaches Leadership Program that began Thursday, June 6, and ran through Sunday, June 9 in Davidson, N.C.

The academy ran by former Duke basketball standout and current ESPN broadcaster, will cover a variety of topics in the development of young coaches into a potential Division I Head Basketball Coach.

The four-day program included classroom instruction, personalized sessions, off-the-court skills, and keynote speakers. Numerous notable current and former coaches were in attendance at the program, including Phil Martelli, Jay Wright, Kevin Keatts, Brad Brownell, and many more.

"It was one of the best professional development events that I've been blessed to be a part of," said Pope. "An intimate, transformational experience. Good people all the way throughout. Jay Bilas and his team did a great job, and I would recommend any coach that has the chance to be a part of it, to go!"

Pope is entering his second season with the UT Arlington men's basketball program in 2024-25, serving as an assistant coach the previous season and helped lead a Maverick resurgence behind an entirely new coaching staff from a 21-loss campaign during the 2022-23 season to a 20-win year and an appearance in the Western Athletic Conference Tournament Final.

The Coaches Leadership Program is held in conjunction with the Jay Bilas Skills Camp and Coaches Development Program, which has run since 2013. It is designed for current Division I assistant coaches who aspire to be collegiate head coaches.   The program is keyed toward the more experienced coach looking to refine their thinking and approach to coaching, so they're prepared to explore, interview, and execute their first head coaching job.
