PAWLEY'S ISLAND, South Carolina - UT Arlington men's golf opened the 2024 fall season on Sunday in the Golfweek Fall Challenge from True Blue Golf Club in Pawley's Island, South Carolina. The Mavs were led by Diego Nuno, who shot a one-over 73 in round one and enters the second round on Monday tied for 30th individually. The team looks to improve on its standing Monday, entering play in 15th in a deep field following the team's 316 total round score.
"Diego had a solid first day," head coach Logan Goulding said following play on Sunday. "He controlled his golf ball well and hung in here under the conditions. Everyone else got off to a rough start and then the weather got bad and they weren't able to bring it back. Looking forward to getting back out there tomorrow and having a better day.
Nuno, a sophomore from Pueblo, Mexico, birdied Nos. 6, 10 and 15 on the day, while parring 12 holes in his 2024 fall season debut.
Play was suspended due to weather in the afternoon, but all teams were able to complete their respective rounds of play.
Junior Cameron Beck (79), senior Jamen Parsons (82), graduate Ethan Miller (82) and sophomore Michael Chevalier (84) rounded out the Maverick lineup for Goulding in his UTA debut.
UT Arlington is back in action on Monday morning with round two, and the Mavs are scheduled to tee off at 7:39 a.m. CT. Follow along with live scoring here, courtesy of GolfStat.
