Mariana Torres Named Softball Graduate Assistant

ARLINGTON – UT Arlington head softball coach Kara Dill has announced the addition of former McNeese softball player Mariana Torres who will join her on staff as a graduate assistant.

"I chose to become a graduate assistant for UTA because of the invaluable love and dedication the players and staff hold for the program," shared Torres. "The chance to join a team of well-rounded humans will help me continue to develop on and off the field. I'm most excited about the opportunity to learn from seasoned coaches, mentor talented athletes, and positively contribute to the team's success."

In college, Torres split her playing time at Texas A&M for her freshman (2021) and sophomore (2022) year where the Pflugerville, Texas native made 19 total starts. During her freshman campaign, Torres appeared in 33 games, collecting five hits, three RBI and one double. In 2022, the infielder earned a start in the Aggies Regional games.

Following her two-year stint in College Station, Torres transferred to McNeese as she went on to play the remainder of her career as a Cowgirl. While in Lake Charles, Torres garnered All-Southland Conference honors (2023, 2024), earned a spot on the SLC All-Tournament Team (2023) and was named the Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA) Newcomer of the Year (2023).
