WAC Tournament Ahead For UTA Softball
SEATTLE – The UT Arlington softball team will meet with #7 Tarleton to kick off WAC Tournament action with a 10 a.m. PT/ 12 p.m. CT start from Logan Field.
UTA will open with the Texans in a single elimination game before advancing to #3 Utah Valley on Wednesday at 4 p.m. PT / 6 p.m. CT.

#6 UT ARLINGTON NOTES (21-32) (11-14, WAC)
- UTA is coming off a series loss to Seattle U over the weekend in the Mavericks' final home stand of the regular season. Despite dropping the series, the Mavs were able to take game two against the Redhawks with a final score of 5-3.
- Camille Corona and Gracie Bumpurs have earned All-WAC honors as announced by the conference Monday evening.
- Corona was named to the All-WAC First Team and Defensive Team as the third baseman has played a vital role in head coach Kara Dill's lineup since transferring from the University of Texas in 2023. In just one season with UTA, the fifth year leads the Mavericks in multiple statistical batting categories including batting average (.410), hits (64), runs scored (29), on-base percentage (.463) and stolen bases (8).
- In conference action alone, the Texas native posts a .443 batting average with nine multi-hit contests, 10 RBI, 35 hits, 10 walks and a .500 on-base percentage. Not only has Corona excelled at the plate this season, she also has been solid at the hot corner all year long. With an overall fielding percentage of .979 and .972 in WAC action, the infielder has committed just three errors.
- Senior pitcher Bumpurs was given an All-WAC honorable mention as the conference compiled a list of student-athletes who received votes for all-conference honors.
- With six starts in the circle, the right-hander posts a staff-best 2.23 ERA against conference opponents in over 37 innings of work. The Splendora, Texas product has thrown five complete games – two of them shutouts – and has only given up one home run across the season.
- Coming into the conference tournament opener, the Mavs sit on a .276 overall batting average with 193 runs scored off 381 hits. As a team, UTA ranks 5th in stolen bases (38), 6th in hits (381) and home runs (30).
- Against WAC opponents, Kaylee Cavazos (.409), Morgan Westbrook (.360), Nikki Donahue (.353), Zaia Castruita (.326) and Kaitlyn Sailor (.303) all hold batting averages of .300 or higher. However, Sailor leads the way with 16 RBI and the second-most hits with 23.
KNOW YOUR OPPONENT – #6 TARLETON TEXANS (23-31, 9-16)
- Tarleton comes into the conference tournament with a 23-31 overall record as the Texans are coming off a thrilling series win over Southern Utah that secured their trip to Seattle thanks to solo home runs from Kayla Wallace and Tristyn Trull.
- Senior outfielder Kelci Hill was this week's WAC Softball Player of the Week after finishing 8-10 at the plate across three games against the Thunderbirds. Currently, Hill leads the Texans' lineup in batting average (.449), hits (84), runs scored (45), triples (5), doubles (23) and OPS (1.151).
- Senior infielder Katy Schaefer holds a team-high 51 RBI and 10 home runs. Across 50 starts and 151 at-bats, Schaefer holds a .313 batting average.
- Tarleton's seven-player pitching staff sits on a 5.40 ERA as redshirt freshman Kendall Daniel leads the pack with a 4.77 ERA. Although Daniel ranks first in ERA, junior right-hander Alexa Rehmeier has spent the most time in the circle for the Texans with over 102 innings pitched with 57 strike outs in 30 appearances.
- In conference action alone, Hill leads with a .441 batting average with 14 doubles, 41 hits and a .667 slugging percentage. Following Hill is Austin Germain (.340), Trull (.329) and Schaefer (.321) who all encompass .300 averages or higher.
- Overall, as a team the Texans have scored 241 runs off 397 hits and hold a .283 batting average.
