Softball's Corona, Bumpurs Earn All-WAC Honors
ARLINGTON, Texas - UT Arlington's Camille Corona and Gracie Bumpurs have earned All-WAC honors as announced by the conference Monday evening.
Corona was named to the All-WAC First Team and Defensive Team as the third baseman has played a vital role in head coach Kara Dill's lineup since transferring from the University of Texas in 2023.
In just one season with UTA, the fifth year leads the Mavericks in multiple statistical batting categories including batting average (.410), hits (64), runs scored (29), on-base percentage (.463) and stolen bases (8).
In conference action alone, the Texas native posts a .443 batting average with nine multi-hit contests, 10 RBI, 35 hits, 10 walks and a .500 on-base percentage. Not only has Corona excelled at the plate this season, she also has been solid at the hot corner all year long. With an overall fielding percentage of .979 and .972 in WAC action, the infielder has committed just three errors.
Senior pitcher Gracie Bumpurs was given an All-WAC honorable mention as the conference compiled a list of student-athletes who received votes for all-conference honors.
With six starts in the circle, the right-hander posts a staff-best 2.23 ERA against conference opponents in over 37 innings of work. The Splendora, Texas product has thrown five complete games – two of them shutouts – and has only given up one home run across the season.
#6 UTA will look ahead to the WAC Tournament as the Mavs will open action against #7 Tarleton on Wednesday, May 8 at 10 a.m. PT/12 p.m. CT from Logan Field in Seattle.
