Hunter Bunch Named UTA Softball Assistant Coach

ARLINGTON – UT Arlington head softball coach Kara Dill has announced the addition of former Georgia Tech assistant coach Hunter Bunch to join her staff.

"My family and I are excited for this opportunity to join the staff at UTA," shared Bunch. "I am looking forward to working with Kara and Elizabeth and help continue to push the program forward!"

Bunch spent one season with the Yellow Jackets where he primarily oversaw the offense and handled all recruiting pieces for the White and Gold. In 2024, Bunch helped the program to a winning record of 32-23 as Tech made a run to the ACC Tournament semifinals but suffered a tough loss to No. 2 Florida State.

Multiple student-athletes earned postseason honors including NFCA All-Southeast Region, Softball America's All-American list, CSC (College Sports Communicators) Academic All-District and Academic All-ACC – which listed a record-breaking 12 honorees for Tech's program.

"Hunter will make an immediate impact in our program," said Dill. "He is extremely gifted at developing a complete offense. Hunter's roots run deep in Texas and his connections across the state paired with his ability to evaluate talent will help us recruit top athletes to UT Arlington. I could not be more thrilled to welcome Hunter, Micayla and Rawlings back to the great state of Texas!"

Before joining Georgia Tech, Bunch made his mark on the Incarnate Word program as an assistant coach, overseeing the offense. He helped boost the Cardinal bats across the board in his first season and improved both the team batting average and on-base percentage over each of the 2022 and 2023 seasons. Bunch also contributed defensively with infielders and outfielders at Incarnate Word. Off the field, he had a heavy hand in recruiting and camps with the Cardinals.

Prior to joining the collegiate ranks, Bunch led the Texas Bombers travel softball organization as head coach from 2019-21 while also serving as an assistant coach with St. John XXIII College Preparatory over that span. The offensive mind was on staff with the Texas Bombers for over three years, beginning his tenure as an assistant coach his first year and leading as director of analytics throughout the duration of his time with the program. Notably, he guided his 16U Bombers team to a top-five finish nationally during the summer season.

Bunch earned his bachelor's degree in history from Montevallo in 2014.
