Softball Drops Heartbreaker in Series Finale With Seattle U

ARLINGTON, Texas – In a heartbreaking one-run loss, the UT Arlington softball team dropped its series finale against the Seattle U Redhawks on Saturday, May 4 from Allan Saxe Field.
 
With an overall record of 21-32 and conference record of 11-14, the Mavericks will await seeding for the WAC Tournament that is scheduled to kick off on Wednesday, May 8 in Seattle.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: vs. Seattle U (L, 4-3)
UTA totaled seven hits on the day as fifth year Camille Corona paced the Mavs' offense with her 18th multi-hit contest of the season, finishing 2-3 at the plate with an RBI. Now, Corona improves to 64 hits on the year with 17 RBI and a .410 overall batting average.
 
Fellow fifth year Lindsey Franklin collected two RBI on the day with her 44th hit on the season. Joining Franklin was Kaitlyn Sailor (1-4), Morgan Westbrook (1-3), Kaylee Cavazos (1-1) and Zaia Castruita (1-3) who tabbed one hit apiece.
 
Head coach Kara Dill gave fifth-year transfer Emilie Hoelscher the start in the circle – her fourth of the season – as she went on to throw a touch over two innings. During her time on the mound, the left-handed pitcher gave up just two hits before Abi Gutierrez entered the game in the top of the third.
 
The fellow lefty threw the remainder of the game, allowing three earned runs off seven hits. With the loss, Gutierrez moves on to 8-7 on the season.

ON DECK
The Mavericks will prepare for the WAC Tournament that is scheduled to begin with the opening round on Wednesday, May 8 through Saturday, May 11 from Logan Field in Seattle.
