Mavs Ready For Sam Houston's Bearkat Invitational

HUNTSVILLE, Texas – The UT Arlington women's golf team is on the hunt for its second top-3 finish of the season as the Mavericks will compete in Sam Houston's two-day Bearkat Invitational beginning Monday, Sept. 23 from Ravens Nest Golf Club.

One year ago, head coach Catherine Matranga and the Mav squad tabbed a 3rd-place finish in Huntsville after the tournament was shortened to 36 holes due to inclement weather. Kamri Gabel, Nitisha Manikandesh and Nirjara Gulhane will compete in the Bearkats' event once again as this will be the first time for freshman Tarini Bhoga. There, Gabel posted a T-21 finish with consecutive rounds of 76.

INSIDE THE LINEUP
Nitisha Manikandesh

  • Manikandesh paced UTA's lineup as she tied for 8th place last week after turning in rounds of 73-70-72 at the Maverick Classic. The Plano native picked up right where she left off from the 2024 spring season as this performance marked the third-straight top-10 outing as the previous two came from the ORU Spring Invitational (4/8-9/24) and the Western Athletic Championship (4/19-21/24).

Tarini Bhoga

  • Freshman Bhoga had an impressive collegiate debut as a Maverick as the Frisco product tied for 10th place back in UTA's fall opener one week ago. Bhoga collected two rounds of par or better as she sits at a 72.0 scoring average on the young season.

Nirjara Gulhane

  • Gulhane will make her second appearance for the Mavs as she produced a pair of 72's in the Maverick Classic, leading to a top-15 finish. This will mark the sophomore's 11th tournament in her career as a Maverick.

Kamri Gabel

  • Gabel is coming off a 14th-place finish where she recorded rounds of 76-71-73 to commence the 2024 season. Now, the junior has five rounds of par or better in her collegiate career.

NEXT UP
UTA will take a three-week break from competition before heading to Jonesboro, Ark. to compete in Arkansas State's Lady Red Wolves Classic. The two-day event will begin on Monday, Oct. 14 from Sage Meadows Golf Club.
