Mavs Register 3rd-Place Finish in Maverick Classic
ARLINGTON, Texas – The UT Arlington women's golf team capped an exciting two-day Maverick Classic as the four-player lineup registered a 3rd-place team Tuesday from Tierra Verde Golf Club.
As a team, the Mavericks logged a total of seven rounds of par or better across the course of the tournament, including a top-15 individual finish from each player.
Junior Nitisha Manikandesh paced UTA's lineup as she tied for 8th place after turning in rounds of 73-70-72. The Plano native picked up right where she left off from the 2024 spring season as this week's performance marked the third-straight top-10 outing while the previous two came from the ORU Spring Invitational (4/8-9/24) and the Western Athletic Championship (4/19-21/24).

Manikandesh
- Manikandesh turned in a final-round 72 as her round featured a pair of bogeys, 14 pars and two birdies which came on holes 3 and 17. The junior produced a 35 (-1) on the back nine which proved to be the best among the UTA lineup.
Bhoga
- The freshman opened the round with four consecutive pars (18-3) before rolling her first birdie of the round on hole 4. Despite a bogey on 5, Bhoga was able to get her card back down to -1 courtesy of a birdie on 6. Even with three-straight bogeys on 10, 11 and 12, the freshman settled down by birdieing two of the final six holes for a final-round 72.
Gabel
- The junior got off to an unbelievable start, rolling three birdies and six pars which led to a -3 opening-nine. A double and two bogeys on the back side set her back just a tad, ultimately ending tournament action with round of 73.
Gulhane
- Gulhane was responsible for UTA's third round of 72 on Tuesday as her card consisted of three bogeys, 12 pars and three birdies which was highlighted on holes 7, 8 and 14.
NEXT UP
UTA will immediately turn around and head to Huntsville, Texas to compete in Sam Houston's Bearkat Invitational which is set to begin on Sept. 23 from Bearkat Golf Course.
