- Nov 1910:00 AMFine Print Foot PrintA collection can be defined as a group of objects; objects that often are viewed as symbols and representations of the people who gather them by those around them. Typically, these are organized in some way through an innumerable series of categories dependent on the collector, but what objects are left behind accidentally, mistakenly, or without that individual’s control or knowledge? By exploring and tracing these possessions, their impressions, and their associated data, we are better able to understand that individual, their experience, and their foot print. For this exhibition, we will take an investigative viewpoint from the perspective of an artist, a scientific scholar, a visual resource curator, and a collection specialist. By combining these uniquely creative perspectives and their interpretive techniques, we present a variety of opportunities for the viewer to approach this experience and to expand their own point of view. On display are a variety of artforms, including both historical and contemporary prints, a series of forensic scientific specimens, the tools used in their creation, and examples of their approaches and processes. Please visit the exhibition throughout the fall semester, Monday, September 30 – Friday, November 22, 2024. The opening reception will be Thursday, October 3, 4 p.m.- 6 p.m.The UTA Fine Art Collections Gallery, housed within the Visual Resource Collections, Suite 2109, on the second floor of the Fine Arts Building. It will be open 10 a.m.–5 p.m. It will also be open on Saturdays Oct. 19 - Nov. 16, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.Walk-ins are welcome and group visits are available via scheduled appointments.
